CALENDAR

Calendar is an organized system to divide the time by count of years, months, weeks, and days. Long before man was created, God has provided the basis for such timing calculations. Genesis 1:14, 15 tells us that one of the functions of "lights in the heavens" is for "seasons and for days and years". Thus the day and the year of syamsiah (solar), and the lunar month are the natural divisions of time, each determined by the rotation of the earth on its axis every day, the circulation of the earth around the sun every year, and the phases of the moon in relation to earth and sun every month. Conversely, the division of time into weeks and the division of days into hours is a mere human invention.
